The Crew and Cargo Pop Quiz: How many of each animal did Noah take on the ark? A: Two of everything B: Two of everything unless it was clean then he had to take seven of those. The elephant is a /clean/ animal. This means that Noah had to take 7 of them at 8 tons each. There where also seven Mastodons. In all there were elephants, mastodons, mammoths, dwarf ... skrew it, lets call the group Proboscidea like any normal Latin speaking person would. The history of the world shows us that there have been over twelve types of Proboscidea. That comes out to, at the least, 588 tones of animals that would collectively eat 132 tones food each day. Over the course of 8 months out to sea we are talking about 34,000 tones of food in all. So that leavs us with about 9 and a half tones of cargo space to cover the rest of Earths biomass. Of course this is greately simplified if we take the creationist short-cut and think of all the elephants as one 'kind'. Kind is a tricky word since it doesn't mean much. For example would you think of a Mastadon and a dassie to be same 'kind'? ___ .-----------.__/ \ / | / Mastadon \ | o | | \ | _.-_ | / | /\/\___-'_.-_\ /| / |/ |\___-' \\__/ | |-_______-| | || _ `--' | | | | \\__// (:F_P:) (___) `--' :F_P: |------ 13 feet --------| Dassie at 8x magnification __,____ / o \ `--//-||\\_ |- 1.8 f -| ##########Mon Feb 20 2006############### Proboscidea The dassie is the closest living relitive of the elephant. And they don't look anything alike. But inorder for us to group animals by 'kind' to save space on the ark we have to asssume that there were 7 elephants on the ark 4500 years ago and that they evolved into the Dassie, Asian elephant and African Elephants that we know today. While we have done amazing things with dog breeding in 10,000 years but not one elovlutionist alive is going to belive that we the divesity we see in the Proboscidea order today happend in just 2.5 millenia. Consaquently we shouldn't ask any creationist to belive evolution happens that fast either since they would have to admit that it happens at all. ____ k -'(_/ \ /` LL c 20 tonnes /L 6 tonnes Apatosaurus: 70-90 feet Tyrannosaurus rex: 40 feet ######################################Tue Feb 14 2006################# Dinos Apatosaurus was a clean animal so, you guessed it, he had to take 7 of them as well. Which was hard to deal with since there where 7 Terranasourus Rexs who wanted to eat them. Well that and that since the apatosaurus was between 30 and 35 tones this made it very hard to keep the boat floating since it could only hold 45 tones. And the apatosaurus is just one of all the dinos that have to be put on the Ark. There were about 63 genra of dinos with thousands of species ranging between 500 kg an 60,000 tones per specimen. Which means that you couldn't put even one of the largest dinosaurs on the Ark. Much less 7 of them. There are 1.2 million types of bugs an about .2 million other types of non-single celled animal life forms that currently exist. Fortunatly for Noah most of them are small. Unfortunatly We still have to make room for them 55,000 not so small animals. Included in this list are gray whales. These are also clean animals so wee need 7 of them at 45 feet in length and 30-40 tons each and Blue Whales at 209 tons each. Oh and we have to make room for all the other big animals like bears, bison, crocs and hippos. This keeps growing. Even if he were to have junior members of each 'kind' we still can't get them all to fit on the boat. We could assume that they were all babies an much smaller but since the door of the ark wouldn't have been wide enough to get them in there 'two by two'. _____ / ___ \ |\ '' \ \ / | _____. / / / / `--' ___| \ / / __.-' / . `---' `|/\ / / .--' __./ // ____ \ \ /_| /\ .--'-._/'/ ___./ `\ \ \ |_|/-.//_.----./ __.--'____\_.-. \ \/ |.--' ` \---._ .-'__.--' _.-----._\ \// \ / / \ .-' |-' .-'. Oh yes, I did. Too bad the bible doesn't always stay consistant on that one as it mentions it raining for both 40 and 40 in one spot as well as 150 days in another. Then, after the rain stopped this craft was on the open water for 220 days after that. I challange anyone to keep a wooden box the size of the titanic floating for somewhere between 8.6 and 30.8 months depending on which numbers you want to pick from a book that belivers say never contradicts its self. If you succed in that then try filling the whole thing with lead to account for some of the weight of all the cargo. Eventually the ark finally set down on a mountain the middle east. We will call this mountain the Zero Point for the use of this conversation since Ground Zero has already been taken. Now comes a new problem. We now have to move 2.2 million creatures from Zero Point to the four corners of the world. This has to be done in 4000 years so that when Whitie gets to the American South West he can get bitten by Rattle Snakes which aren't found in the rest of the world. Rattle Snakes are well known for their ability to wash downstream during heavy rains in San Diego and find themself on the beach with nothing better to do but bit someones beach ball. But they just don't have the ability to cross from Zero Point to the South West because there is one large sea, one larger ocean and half a continent on the way. This is just one example that doesn't include the hundreds of thousands of species in the rain forests that haven't got one member of their family tree in any other part of the world. ___ _.-__ / | / /-' \._ |\\ / / / /\ \ \|| / | /| \/\ /\ \ /(_ | |/ _ \/\ _\/ \ \_/ \ | // __/-. _-_ _ |_\-. /._ \ / || / /_ _ _ / `--.__,\__\|\\_ \ / | .-. \| /|\V / `/\_/ \_ | \__/ / ) \ ( _-'_ / _) __/\|| `---\_ / / _\/ \ | (_) / / \_/ ._) \ /--. Eight people were on the ark. The tower of bable was to happen about 150 years latter. Lets assume that every one of these women pumped out one kid every other year, that 55% of those children where female and when each of those females hit 15 years old they also started pushing out kids at the same rate. Figure in that each mother had a %15 chance of dieing during labor and each child had a 50% chance of dieing before reaching 15 years old. That last bit is because humans are very fragile creatures and without the aid of post dark ages medical treatment half of all kids would die before reaching the age of six. Even in this day half of all pregnancies end in miscarriage during the first trimester. ____ ____ |Noah|+|Wife| ? ? ? `----'|`----' _____|_____ | | | _|_ _|_ _|__ __|__ _|_ __|__ |had| | 3 | |sons| |their| | 3 | |wives| `---' `---' `----' `-----' `---' `-----' | | `------|-------|------' `-------------------' | | | |_____________________| | | | | `-----------:F_P:------------' _____|______ ~~~~~~~~~~~~| 5600 years |~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ `------------' ____||||||||||||__ |Six Billion People| `------------------' ####################Fri Feb 17 2006######### Noah's Family Tree Additionally keep in mind they had to do this while spreading out to repopulate the world. This means there were about 13 people to build the peramids in Egypt and about the same number of people to create the Chines Empire who then had to quickly turn right back around to sack the Roman Empire in the 4th century. It would also mean that it would have been years before the Pilgrams found any Indians to help them prepair the first Thanksgiving. The popluation numbers just don't work. It just isn't possible to get from eight people 5600 years ago to 6 billion people today unless the world population doubled at a rate so fast it would have out-paced our ability to feed ourselves. Lets not talk about inbreeding. :F_P:#################################Wed Feb 21 2006################# # Noah and the Ark Part 2
