Frequently Ask Questions
1) How do you create your ASCII art?
With any quality product you must use the best materials. Every
ASCII drawing is created with only top quality ASCII characters that
are bi-endian compatible. Too much of the ASCII art out there uses
inferior ANSI characters and while we here at www.fauxascii.com could save some money by using those bytes
we have a commitment to quality products that forbid their use.
Oh, and I also use emacs, aterm, Esetroot and anything else that comes in
handy. Do not try to use notepad.exe for creating ASCII art. You
will drive yourself insane.
2) Why do you create ASCII art?
Because someone has to and it might as well be me.
3) If you are so into ASCII art why do you have photos on the site?
Because I have a digital camera and have to put the debris someplace.
Most of the new photos don't end up here anymore. They end up on my
flickr
account.
4) What does 5824 think of all the time you spend drawing naked
women?
5824 feels that she should be able to meet these nude models over a
candlelit dinner. Without me being there.
5) What is a 5824?
It is a girlfriend.
6) How can I take a piece of this fine ASCII art home with me?
You are joking, right?
7) How much do you charge to create custom ASCII art?
Contact me and tell me
what you are looking for.
8) Can I be a model?
Yes, you can. Send me pictures. You can reach me via my contact page. Your
identity will be protected. I am looking for clothed and unclothed,
male and female models.
8a) Does that really work?
Yes. Yes, it does.
9) Where is your RSS feed so I can keep up with your new drawings?
I don't have one. Instead I use my LJ as the place I dump
things before I put them on the site. The RSS feed for that is here.
10) How can I get started creating ASCII art?
Get a job and stop watching TV. Then set aside 2 hours a week to
drink beer and type at the keyboard.
On most of them there are two guides at the top. Most of the time
they are X's. Cross your eyes until you see three X's.
The phantom ones on the sides you can ignore. The solid one in the
center is the one you want to focus on. From there the rest of the
drawing should come into place and be in three dimensions.
12) Are the rumors about you and Princess Di true?
Who told you about that?
13) Do you eat the mushrooms you find?
No. I value my life.
13) What about the cult?
There is no cult.
14) How did you learn to cook?
Trial and error. As Bill Cosby once mentioned, doctors have to
bury their mistakes, cooks just have to eat theirs.
15) Why did you mess the site up?
I have used a text based browser for years but now firefox has
become more usefull than elinks for most of my browsing. Of the
unique visitors that visit here only about one in every 1,347 are
using text based browser. When it came time to reload the site for
easier upkeep and expandability I decided to go with CSS instead of
HTML tables. So you can still read it in a text based browser the main
portion of what you want will be one page down from whatever displays.
