Slow Pinto Beans ****
1 pound dry pinto beans
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 pound cooked bacon, chopped
4 cups water
1 onion, chopped
Seasoning, (1-2 tsp salt, 1 tsp fresh ground black pepper, ground red pepper to taste)
+ Wash the beans and soak overnight in cold water.
+ Drain the beans and dump into slow cooker.
+ Stir in onion, bacon, chili powder and oregano.
+ Add water until mixture is completely covered.
+ add seasoning, and put cover on the slow cooker
+ cook on low for 8 hours, you can stir it once in a while but it will still be tasty if you just leave it over night.
