As many of you know the Asian sub-continent was hit by a major earthquake recently. Estimates are putting the death toll at around 23 thousand as of this point. We all know about the people who lost their lives but one good thing that has come out of this is the chance for some great science.

Take this photo for example. It was taken in a timbering area of Kashmir that has had little study for anything other than its wood resources. This aerial shot taken by relief workers flying to one of the effected areas shows that while we thought that dinosaurs where extinct after being killed off in the Noahic Flood or evolved into birds that they are still living on earth.

Note the lush tropical leaves that are larger than the dino's head. We can see how bad the destruction was by noticing how similar the timber curing field looks like the after effects of the 1908 Siberia Explosion in which a meteor exploded and destroyed a whole lot of trees. Also looks like some pictures of Mount St. Helens with trees strewn everywhere after its last big blast. That place is going to be great for fossil hunting in a few million years.

So while bad things happen we all need to remember to look on the bright side of life.

Or as I said during a poker game about the displaced people of New Orleans: "A lot of people have been displaced. Think of the strippers. They need your support."
